Leeds United could be about to sign a history-maker in AC Milan forward Noah Okafor this transfer window.

The Whites are looking to strengthen their attack before Deadline Day, and the Switzerland international is on their radar.

Okafor is open to moving to Elland Road, with the West Yorkshire outfit in talks to complete a deal worth around £13million.

Daniel Farke’s team beat Everton 1-0 in the Premier League on 18 August and are now set to get one over the Merseysiders in the race for the 25-year-old winger.

Okafor scored as Red Bull Salzburg progressed to Champions League knockouts for first time

In December 2021, Okafor got on the scoresheet in a 1-0 win against Sevilla at the Red Bull Arena to make history.

The Austrian outfit progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time after beating the LaLiga side.

RB Salzburg finished as runners-up in the group that also included LOSC Lille and VfL Wolfsburg.

The Admiral Bundesliga club were eventually knocked out by Bayern Munich in the last-16, but the Swiss attacker was key for them in the 2021/22 campaign.

Okafor signs: Willy Gnonto looking over shoulder at Leeds United

Okafor’s signing at Leeds feels imminent, and there will be certain players in the squad who will now have to face competition for a place in the starting lineup.

Farke’s new system seems to have moved away from a number 10 in the starting lineup as Ethan Ampadu, Anton Stach and Ao Tanaka started against Everton at Elland Road.

After a dominant first-half display against the Blues, it doesn’t look like the German manager will want to make a lot of tweaks to the team.

Okafor scored three goals in the 2021/22 season’s Champions League group stage.

Overall, the 25-year-old had 14 goals and 11 assists in 34 appearances in the campaign for RB Salzburg.

The Swiss attacker is capable of playing across the front line.

Willy Gnonto lost his place at Leeds in the second half of last season, and now certainly has to face much more competition for a starting berth.

Brenden Aaronson replaced the Italian forward against Everton and played on the left wing, a position Okafor may feature in frequently this season.

Farke also has Largie Ramazani at his disposal up front, and the former FC Zurich attacker will certainly be looking over his shoulders once the Switzerland international arrives in LS11.
