Leon Bailey’s move from Aston Villa to AS Roma is all but agreed.
Earlier on Tuesday, SportMediaset reported the winger will arrive in the Italian capital today, as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side sealed an initial loan deal worth €2m and have an option to buy of €22m.
All the details of the move have been sorted out. The only snag is getting him into the city.
VoceGiallorossa note that the 28-year-old Jamaican was set to arrive in Rome at 1:25pm, but due to heavy air-traffic, he will now arrive at 2:20pm.
With airports across Europe extremely busy, Bailey isn’t being waved through as an exception.
Italian football is no stranger to seeing fans welcome new signings when they land in the country and exit the airport. Roma fans did that some weeks ago for Evan Ferguson and Napoli fans did much more for Kevin de Bruyne and Scott McTominay.
That’s why the timing may be important.
