Gary Neville makes claim about Celtic Park during Sky Sports coverage of Leeds United vs Everton

Gary Neville was a pundit for Sky Sports on Monday night during Leeds United vs Everton.

It was the last fixture of the opening Premier League weekend of the season and Leeds fans served up a boisterous atmosphere at Elland Road.

Leeds were by far the better team and deservedly took three points thanks to Lukas Nmecha’s 84th minute strike from the penalty spot.

After the match, Neville provided his analysis of the game and during his piece, he namechecked Celtic Park.

Neville compares Elland Road to Celtic Park

The atmosphere before, during and after the Premier League clash was electric and Neville thinks Elland Road is right up there with Celtic Park in that regard.

The former Manchester United captain also mentioned Anfield and Ibrox in his comparison, describing their ‘ferocious’ atmospheres.

Neville said: “I’d put Elland Road on definitely alongside Anfield, Ibrox and Celtic Park, some of the great hostile grounds that were just ferocious when you went there.

When did Neville play at Celtic Park?

Neville experienced the world famous atmosphere at Celtic Park as a Manchester United player in November 2006.

He captained his boyhood club against the Bhoys but could not lead his team to victory. Of course, it was Shunsuke Nakamura who gave Celtic a historic win.

His unbelievable free-kick with just 10 minutes of normal time to go was enough to send Celtic into the last 16 of the Champions League under Gordon Strachan.

Neville played the entirety of the match and despite losing, the cauldron of noise clearly left a lasting impression.
