Micah Richards backs Arsenal move for Rodrygo

Micah Richards has called on Arsenal to swoop for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. Micah branded him as the kind of talent who could transform Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Ex-Man City star Micah Richards wants Rodrygo at Arsenal

Arsenal’s performance at Old Trafford raised old questions about their cutting edge. Gabriel Martinelli was deployed on the left side but didn’t particularly concern Man United’s backline. That was a game where Gunners sat and invited pressure.

The Red Devils were more dangerous in possession. But, they couldn’t found the decisive blow to break Arsenal down. Thus, left the match with more frustration than flair. The Gunners’ lack of threat on the left-hand side was clearly seen, which Micah Richards picked up on immediately.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, the former Manchester City defender talked about the same issue. He thinks that if Arsenal want to mount a serious title charge this season, they must upgrade that area. His words carried extra weight because Luka Modric has previously described Rodrygo as “world class.” That is proof of the level the winger operates at.

Rodrygo could be the solution

Rodrygo is a naturally wide player. He is a genuine threat cutting in from the left-hand side with speed and precision. Unlike some of the names who are being linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, including Eberechi Eze or Noni Madueke. The Brazilian has UCL experience and the big game know-how to rely upon.

Richards said that getting Rodrygo would, “solve a lot of problems,” though the fee will not be cheap. Real Madrid will not make it easy to part with their key player of their squad. That being said, in two weeks the timing will be very important.

The Gunners play Leeds at home, followed by a giant trip to Liverpool in the coming weeks. So, investing the time and effort in Rodrygo now could start moving this campaign in the right direction. The north Londoners are already active in the summer. That said, making a statement signing like this would show the club is looking to win.
