Jamie Vardy receives Everton transfer thumbs up as 'perfect' Jack Grealish reason given

Jamie Vardy is “perfect” for Everton - that’s the view of Toffees legend Alan Stubbs.

Everton drew a blank as they lost 1-0 to Leeds United at Elland Road in their opening match of the new Premier League season on Monday night.

And Stubbs believes Leicester City legend Vardy would be the ideal striker to make the most of chances created by new signings Jack Grealish and former Foxes man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Stubbs was asked if Everton boss David Moyes should take a punt on free agent Vardy before the summer transfer window closes, and he said: “Oh 100 per cent. I think he’s very different to what we’ve got as well.

“We’ve got two very similar strikers, two big lads but we haven’t got anyone who’s that direct and, most importantly, a proven goalscorer.

“You look at Iliman Ndiaye, Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, they’re players who are looking to slide balls in down the side.

“They are looking for a clever player to run onto them. I’ve got to be honest, I think Vardy is a perfect player for Everton right now.”
