In the 2025 Summer League, he continued to display his hot hand. The young sniper averaged 10.6 points, with a large chunk of his baskets coming from beyond the arc. An epic walk-off mid-range shot against the Utah Jazz highlighted Minix's Summer League campaign.
Before his shot in the NBA, Minix was averaging a thunderous 20.9 points for the Morehead State Eagles, knocking down 34.9% of his 4.8 three-point tries. The 6'7" forward has had a walking bucket for his entire basketball journey and has proved time and time again that he holds one of the most valuable traits you can have as a basketball player.
Does Riley Minix fit in the Spurs rotation?

For now, Minix simply does not have the talent to crack the Spurs rotation, but that doesn't mean he can't get there. The Spurs put their trust in him with a prominent two-way contract, making it abundantly clear that the kid has some promise. Now the optimistic youngster will have to work his way into the lineup.
However, despite his absence from the current rotation, his foundational skill could push him up the rankings. If the Spurs find that they are struggling from deep this season, Minix could get a look. Much like many of the sharpshooters around the NBA, there is a place for their talents. Even if you don't have the all-around skills, being able to shoot can be enough.
