Real Madrid weighing up 2026 move for Bundesliga midfielder – report

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United have set their sights on Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as a key reinforcement to conclude their summer transfer window.

The Premier League giants want to sign a midfielder who can partner Casemiro in a double pivot.

Camavinga fits the profile for Manchester United

As per the report, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim regards Camavinga as the ideal fit for his 3-4-2-1 system.

The Portuguese manager is looking for a midfielder capable of sustaining the team’s physical tempo while freeing Bruno Fernandes to operate further forward.

“The team needs a player with energy, judgement and one who can bring balance. Camavinga has those qualities,” Amorim is reported to have said in internal discussions.

Before pursuing Camavinga, Manchester United explored options such as Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion, but his asking price was deemed too high. They also enquired about Adam Wharton, but Crystal Palace refused to negotiate.

Camavinga’s situation at Real Madrid

At Real Madrid, Camavinga faces a complicated start to the campaign. An ankle injury has sidelined him for the league opener against Osasuna and his return is unlikely until next month.

The 22-year-old footballer is under contract until 2029 and is, in principle, seen as a part of Xabi Alonso’s plans. The Real Madrid coach values him for two reasons: his physical output and his ability to bring the ball out from deep positions.

However, recurring injuries and a lack of consistency in performances have created some concern, leading to speculations over his future.

Real Madrid’s club’s stance is clear: Camavinga is not for sale unless an offer of around €80 million arrives. This figure was communicated to all intermediaries during the summer, which discouraged interest from Premier League and Serie A clubs.

However, the report states that Manchester United are considering making an offer close to the €80 million figure. Whether this materialises into a formal approach remains to be seen.
