Yoane Wissa’s situation is different to Alexander Isak amid Newcastle United striker chaos -…

Yoane Wissa and Alexander Isak are seriously hurting their reputations as they respectively try to join and leave Newcastle United.

The striker situation at Newcastle United is becoming more and more staggering with each passing day, yet a resolution feels so far away.

Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle and join Liverpool. He is refusing to play for Newcastle, having sat out the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday. Newcastle fans chanted about Isak after the game, making their feelings known.

Meanwhile, Yoane Wissa wants to leave Brentford and join Newcastle. He has unfollowed Brentford on social media, which feels very petulant. The 28-year-old missed Brentford’s season opener against Nottingham Forest, and previously threatened to never play for the Bees again.

Neither player has covered himself in glory, but there are two key differences when it comes to their situations.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak price tag has always been the same

The one key constant has been Newcastle’s price tag for Isak. Newcastle have always wanted £150million. That is what they feel he is worth, given his ability and the fact he has three years left on his contract.

If Liverpool or someone else comes in with that amount then a deal could be done, as long as Newcastle can get a replacement.

When it comes to Wissa, his price tag has changed. It was reported on Monday that Brentford want £60million for Wissa, which would make him one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings ever.

That is a huge increase on his price. It was only a few days prior that it was claimed by the Guardian that Brentford want around £40million for Wissa.

The goalposts have been moved, which is cause for frustration for the DR Congo international.

Yoane Wissa insists he was promised a move away from Brentford

Newcastle United have always been clear that they do not want to sell Isak. That is not to say that they won’t, but their desire is to keep the 25-year-old at St James’ Park.

While Isak made it clear he wants to leave Newcastle, there have been no assurances that he will get what he wants.

In contrast, Wissa insists that he was told he could leave Brentford this summer.

TalkSPORT have reported that Wissa believes he was given permission to leave the Bees in 2025 for around £26million last summer, which resulted in him staying at the Gtech Community Stadium another season.

However, they have since not sanctioned a departure for Wissa, despite intense interest from Newcastle.

While Wissa’s actions have been extremely poor, just like Isak’s, there are differences in their situations.

Regardless, it remains to be seen if either player will get what they want.
