Marcus Rashford is ready to do something at Barcelona that Ruben Amorim made U-turn on at Man Utd, ‘in the end…’

Marcus Rashford is ready to commit to one thing under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick that Ruben Amorim walked back on during his time as Manchester United boss.

The 27-year-old Manchester United player will spend the 2025-26 campaign out on loan at Barcelona after Marcus Rashford completed a dream move to the Camp Nou.

Barcelona agreed to sign Rashford from United in a 12-month loan deal with an option to buy in 2026, with the player’s fee set at £30.3m for a permanent deal.

Rashford linked up with his Barcelona teammates in July and the United forward secured his first experience at the La Liga club during the pre-season summer tour.

The Barcelona signing reportedly took a 25 per cent pay cut to his hefty United wages to ensure his move to the defending Spanish champions would happen.

The Red Devils talent does provide an alternative to Barcelona for Raphinha on the left wing, but Flick has said that United loanee Rashford could be used as a striker.

Rashford has already been tested in the striker role for Barcelona in the 5-0 win over Como earlier this month after Robert Lewandowski was ruled out with an injury.

Speaking to Sport, the former Aston Villa attacker was asked about his ability to play out on the left wing and as a striker amid Flick’s comments around Rashford.

Rashford has now insisted that he is willing to play as a striker or as a left winger for Barcelona, with the United star more focused on producing the end product.

“I can play in both positions, but in the end, what matters is helping to score and assist,” he told the Spanish newspaper.

“I don’t care what position I play in. I think the players around me are very good and make good passes, so if I make good runs and time them right, I can always create and score goals.”

Ruben Amorim’s stance on Marcus Rashford as a striker for Man Utd and his post-feelings on the Barcelona player

Ruben Amorim’s first match as United manager saw the 40-year-old Portuguese deploy Rashford as the lone striker in his tactical system against Ipswich Town.

Rashford made an immediate impact against Ipswich Town after netting for United in the opening two minutes, but his influence waned in the rest of the match.

United manager Amorim made the decision to withdraw Rashford in the second half of the 1-1 draw at Portman Road and replaced him with Rasmus Hojlund.

Speaking after United’s Premier League result against Ipswich last November, Amorim insisted that Rashford’s role as a striker does not perfectly suit him.

“I will try to help him,” Amorim said in 2024, as per The Independent.

“That position is not the best one for him, especially in a game like that, we have to kick with high pressure, we have to kick the ball so many times and it was like fighting with two giants.

“We’ll try to find the right solution for him, as for the other players.”

Rashford made his La Liga debut for Barcelona on Saturday after the United forward came off the bench in the second half of the 3-0 win over nine-man Real Mallorca.
