'Absolutely isn't getting done...' - Journalist rules out Liverpool transfer as talks stall…

Liverpool look unlikely to strike a late deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, journalist Miguel Delaney has claimed.

The reigning Premier League champions have been unable to reach a breakthrough in club-to-club talks for the England international’s arrival, which could mean that Guehi will stay with Palace for another season.

Delaney claims Liverpool are only willing to spend £35m on the 25-year-old, who has less than 12 months remaining on his contract, while the Eagles are demanding £45m.

Unless there are any significant changes in valuations, the deal is not expected to go through, despite Liverpool’s long-standing interest in the 'superstar' central defender.

According to Delaney, Palace are reluctant to let both Guehi and Eberechi Eze leave in the same window, especially considering Liverpool’s unsatisfying proposal for the 24-year-old defender:

“The current view is that they are nevertheless unlikely to allow Eze and Marc Guehi to go in the same summer – especially not at current terms.

“Liverpool won't budge from £35m. Palace won't budge from £45m. Unless anything changes, this absolutely isn't getting done.”

Club-to-club talks are believed to be ongoing regarding Eze’s move to Tottenham, as GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano previously revealed.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder informed the Eagles of his desire to join Spurs last week, with the North London side willing to splash out £60m to get the deal done.

Liverpool have splashed out in excess of £300m on new signings this summer, with former Parma defender Giovanni Leoni the latest to arrive last week, following the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds are targeting reinforcements to their centre-back options amid Ibrahima Konate’s uncertain future, as the Frenchman has only a year left on his contract.

While Real Madrid are said to be monitoring Konate’s situation closely, Liverpool have not given up hope of renewing his contract, with active talks ongoing with the 26-year-old’s representatives.
