The former Manchester United manager has raided Man City to help him in his new managerial position.
Erik ten Hag's finest moment as Manchester United manager came against Man City, but they haven't held the FA Cup final defeat last year against him in the summer transfer window. The Dutchman saved his United job with a fantastic 2-1 win over City in May 2024, though it only delayed the inevitable when he sacked last October after an awful start to the new season.
Ten Hag ruled himself out of taking any other job for the remainder of the season and was eventually appointed as the new head coach of Bayer Leverkusen a year and a day after that famous FA Cup final win. It was a less-than-ideal start for Ten Hag as the Bundesliga side sold star performers Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Odilon Kossounou, Granit Xhaka and Jonathan Tah in the summer transfer window.
Leverkusen responded with moves for Malik Tillman, Jarell Quansah and Mark Flekken and they are set to bolster their ranks further with the addition of a Man City star on loan for the forthcoming campaign.

Echeverri set for City exit
Speaking of FA Cup finals, Claudio Echeverri made his Manchester City debut when he featured from the bench in their 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace back in May. The 19-year-old only arrived at City earlier this year after he completed his pre-agreed transfer from River Plate and he has shown glimpses of his immense potential during three competitive appearances for the senior side.
Echeverri was always going to struggle to make an impact in the City first-team this forthcoming season and has been allowed to join Bayer Leverkusen on loan in order to gain valuable playing time and senior experience. It will be fascinating to see how he copes in the Bundesliga, particularly under the guidance of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
Taking to social media on Tuesday afternoon, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed a deal was in place for the Argentine teenager to complete his move later this week.
"Claudio Echeverri to Bayer Leverkusen, here we go! Deal agreed with Manchester City for straight loan," he posted on X. "No buy option clause, salary covered by Leverkusen and Echeverri on his way for medical already tonight. El Diablito will play under ten Hag."
