Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace

Marc Guehi is wanted by Liverpool this summer

Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of Marc Guehi as the summer transfer window enters its final weeks. The Reds remain in talks with over the defender, who is believed to be keen on a move to .

Guehi has less than 12 months remaining on his contract, and although Palace chairman Steve Parish is determined not to let the defender leave on the cheap, the club have reportedly already started to look at replacements. According to, Palace are 'considering' Rennes talent Jeremy Jacquet as a replacement.

The 20-year-old is the latest French talent to emerge from Bondy, a suburb of Paris that has also produced Kylian Mbappe and numerous other professionals.

Jacquet is reportedly valued at £35million by Rennes, the same amount Liverpool are said to place on Guehi.

However, Palace are understood to be standing firm on their £45m valuation.

Despite strong links to a move away from Selhurst Park, Palace boss Oliver Glasner had no hesitation in starting Guehi at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

The defender was involved in an incident that saw Eberechi Eze's potential match-winning free-kick ruled out on a lesser-known technicality.

"Ebs and Marc, there has been a lot of noise about these two players in the last week," Glasner said. "Everyone could see the performances against Liverpool and today, they were 100 per cent aligned with this team and Crystal Palace.

"As long as they are 100 per cent committed, they will play as they are so good. I watched them all week in training, I spoke to them almost daily, maybe more than my kids and wife, but it’s been worth it to talk to them.

"They didn’t just show they are great footballers, but they are great people and that’s what I expected."
