Report: Chelsea are now willing to loan'unbelievable'footballer to another English club

Chelsea have had success selling the likes of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer.

However, they are struggling to offload some of their other players, including Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Alfie Gilchrist.

Jackson could yet join Napoli, while the striker is also thought to be attracting interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

Gilchrist could get a move to another English club as well, though it is likely to be one in the Championship.

Chelsea willing to loan Alfie Gilchrist despite wanting permanent sale

At the beginning of August, it looked like Gilchrist was edging closer to a Chelsea exit. But since then, nothing has materialised.

According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea were hoping to sell the defender permanently during this transfer window, but they now appear to be considering another option.

The outlet claims that the Blues are willing to loan out Gilchrist again, with a switch to a Championship club being the most likely outcome.

The 21-year-old spent last season at Sheffield United, helping the Blades to reach the play-off final, where they lost to Sunderland.

This summer, it is Sunderland who have recruited from Chelsea, bringing in Marc Guiu from the Club World Cup winners. Guiu’s loan was a tricky one to pull off, according to Sunderland sporting director Kristjaan Speakman.

As Gilchrist is not part of Chelsea’s future plans, they may not be too particular about which club he joins on loan.

How much Chelsea were hoping to sell Alfie Gilchrist for

GiveMeSport’s report states that Chelsea initially wanted £5m for Gilchrist at the beginning of the summer and have since dropped their asking price.

Even so, no one has bitten yet and it is starting to look like the Blues will have to sanction another loan.

In a Q&A, which has been relayed by The Sun, Chelsea legend John Terry described Gilchrist’s attitude as “unbelievable”. Whoever signs the Chelsea academy product this summer will be getting a really good pro.
