Player reveals Vitor Pereira conversations before Wolves exit – Clearly close to manager

Nelson Semedo has revealed that he spoke to Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira about Turkey and Fenerbahçe before moving to the club.

Semedo is holding a press conference today after he was announced by the Turkish side earlier this summer. [Sports Digitale have relayed some of his comments.](https://x.com/SportsDigitale/status/1957782628465094685)

The full-back brought an end to a five-year stay with Wolves, in which he made 182 appearances in totalling, scoring three and assisting 11, this summer.

He had initially been linked with a return to Portugal and former club Benfica, with reports in that country making it clear that they were working on a deal for the 31-year-old.

That never came to fruition, though, and he has instead linked up with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahçe, signing a deal until 2027.

His exit was a disappointing one for Wolves, who had been hoping to tie him to a new deal, particularly after he had impressed since Pereira’s arrival at Molineux last year.

He knows all about Fenerbahçe after previously managing them for 25 games from July 2021 to December that year and was seemingly happy to discuss the Turkish side with Semedo, despite a clear attempt to keep him at Wolves.

_“Before boarding the plane to Turkey, I spoke with coach Vitor,”_ the defender explained.

_“Because what he did for me, he deserved it. He also knew this place well. We talked about Fenerbahçe, and in mid-January, I had spoken with coach Pereira about his experience in Turkey._

_“He had shared some wonderful stories. I had already decided to come here, but talking with him opened many doors for me.”_
