As Eze deal drags on–Arsenal may target La Liga star amid PL rivals’interest

Arsenal got their Premier League campaign underway with a 0-1 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori was the provider of the only goal scored on the day.

Despite a winning start, Mikel Arteta would not be particularly pleased with his team as they failed to create many chances. This season at the Emirates Stadium looks like it could ‘make or break’ for the club given the massive investment this summer.

A season starting with sub-optimal results could well prompt calls for the sacking of the Spanish gaffer. Arsenal fans’ concerns up front could be helped by landing a higher quality attacker on the left wing while many think Gabriel Martinelli offers more than enough.

As the window moves towards it’s conclusion Arsenal may need to fend off interest in a potential loan deal for Rodrygo from Liverpool and Chelsea who are both looking to add more attacking depth particularly if Isak does not join and Garnacho is not signed by the clubs respectively.

The Eberechi Eze dilemma

Many believe that Eberechi Eze could add another dimension to Arsenal in the final third. Arsenal’s need of the hour is a creative attacker, and Eberechi Eze could perfectly slot in.

Despite being comfortable on the left wing, it is not Eze’s natural position. Implying that the Crystal Palace man may not be performing to his optimal best if he moves to Arsenal.

The club have been massively linked with the Crystal Palace attacker throughout the summer window. However, talks have not been concluded between the two parties, and the Gunners could be forced to seek answers in a different direction.

Alternative in Rodrygo

We at Essential Football believe that Arsenal could be better off trying their luck at landing Real Madrid’s world-class winger, Rodrygo. Naturally right-footed, Rodrygo could be the last piece in Arteta’s jigsaw puzzle.

The player will be able to slot into the left-wing or left-attacker position at the club and may certainly take the English top flight by storm. Rodrygo possesses the license to torment and wreak havoc on Premier League defences – Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City will all testify to the same and may well be more interested in the Brazilian ace given he may be available on a loan with option to buy deal.

The Gunners have been linked with other widemen and you can read about their rumoured interest in this £50m Chelsea Target.

Troubled times in Madrid for the Brazilian could help Arsenal

Rodrygo has struggled for game time at the Spanish capital since the beginning of last season, which marked the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. Despite season-defining performances for Los Blancos in the past, Rodrygo once again finds himself in the race to position himself at the top of Xabi Alonso’s pecking order.

Real Madrid have remained reluctant to part ways with Rodrygo throughout the summer, but could be lured into a loan move for their attacker. During Real Madrid’s 0-4 win against WSG Tirol, Rodrygo did not celebrate his goal with enthusiasm. The player was brought on as a substitute by Alonso.

It remains to be seen if Mikel Arteta and his entourage are able to seal the deal for Rodrygo – a transfer that could change the trajectory entirely of the Arsenal season.
