Reports now suggest that Man United are lining up a fresh move for Brentford skipper Nathan Collins as their summer rebuild continues.
Brentford star emerges as Man United target
**Manchester United**’s summer has already been busy, with Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha arriving to boost Ruben Amorim’s new system. Yet, the hunt is far from over.
As per the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have now set their sights on Brentford skipper Nathan Collins. The Irishman has become a key player for the Bees since his transfer from Wolves in 2023. Last season, he incredibly played every single minute in the club’s eventual 10th place finish. At just 24, Collins has shown the type of leadership and grit United’s backline has been missing.
While Amorim has reshaped the attack, defensive reinforcements remain on the agenda. The Red Devils ended last season with their worst PL finish and a poor backline that leaked key goals. Collins, tall, composed, and tough in duels, fits the profile of a centre-back who could steady the ship.
The club’s admiration for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba earlier in the window shows their intent to strengthen. But, Collins looks like the priority target before the deadline.
Transfer roadblocks
United’s chase for Collins is not straightforward. Brentford have already lost big names in recent windows, including Mbeumo, and will fight hard to keep their captain. Any deal would demand a huge fee. That is particularly as Collins is tied down long-term and valued highly in West London.
For United, the move depends on clearing space in the squad. Jadon Sancho’s future, among others, could determine whether the club can push through the signing. Player sales would free funds and wages, giving Amorim the green light to bring Collins in.
If United secure him, it would be a very strong statement of intent. For now, fans must sit and wait to see if the club can offload some fringe players promptly. a
