Liverpool managed to get their Premier League season off to the best possible start as they beat Bournemouth 4-2 at Anfield on Friday.
Indeed, there were times when it felt like Arne Slot’s men were on the back foot, but in the end, it was the Reds who came out on top.
Several of Liverpool’s new signings were given their Anfield debuts, with some performing better than others.

And, while there were some questionable moments across the pitch, there was one area which stood out among the rest.
Ben Foster says that Hugo Ekitike reminds him of Fernando Torres
One of Liverpool’s strongest signings so far has been Hugo Ekitike.
The Frenchman has instantly gelled with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz and, to be honest, he’s been the standout player for Slot’s men since their Community Shield defeat.
And now, while speaking on his YouTube channel, former Premier League ‘keeper Ben Foster has given his thoughts on the former PSG man’s performances thus far.
“I put a little tweet out on Twitter actually said, ‘Is this prime Fernando Torres running around for Liverpool?'” he said.

“And a lot of people saying, ‘Hold on, it’s his first game.’ I’m like, I don’t mean as a player. I mean, visually, he looks like Fernando Torres.’
“The way that he moves, the way he was running. He got that retro Liverpool shirt on. I thought he had a fantastic game.”
Hugo Ekitike can only get better for Liverpool from here
Even though the Reds’ fans have only seen Ekitike play in two competitive games, it’s clear that they’ve signed a gem.
Indeed, the Frenchman is a tad lanky compared to some of the Premier League’s other strikers, but due to his agility and keen eye for goal, he’s a tough player to deal with.
He’s already bagged himself two goals this season, and once Liverpool’s other players, such as Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, manage to settle down and get into full swing, it’s hard to see how Ekitike won’t get even better.

Of course, there is the lingering feeling that Alexander Isak could end up making the move to Anfield before deadline day, but with how stubborn Newcastle are being, that still isn’t guaranteed.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could end up happening, but as long as Slot manages to sign at least one more attacker, the Reds should be more than fine this term.
