Swansea City have reportedly seen a loan bid knocked back for Villarreal striker Karl Etta Eyong.

According to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito TV, the Spanish side have turned down the chance to send the 21-year-old to south Wales, with Leeds United, Rangers and Levante, also credited with an interest.

It's claimed the Cameroonian, who is under contract until 2027, is keen to stay and fight for his place at the club, having stepped up to the first team last term. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.

After netting against Leeds in pre-season, he started his side's opening game of the new campaign against Real Oviedo, scoring as his side earned a 2-0 win.

A striker is certainly high on the wishlist for City, who have previously launched failed bids for Richard Kone and Oli McBurnie this summer.

Swedish striker Jusef Erabi is another to have been assessed over the last few weeks, with reports in Sweden even claiming they've already had two bids knocked back.

Meanwhile, The Athletic claims Swansea are weighing up a move for young Liverpool winger Kaide Gordon this summer.

The 20-year-old came close to signing for the Swans on loan last summer before eventually opting to move to Norwich City, where he played just 10 game before being sent back out to Portsmouth.

It's claimed the Swans and Derby County, where Gordon began his career, have both shown an interest in taking him on for the current season.

Swansea have clearly held a long-term interest in the youngster, but sources have told WalesOnline they are yet to make any sort of meaningful move this time around.

Then again, it's understood there is some appetite to add another wideman to the squad, although a striker and left-sided defender are currently seen as the more pressing priorities. Sign up to the Swansea City WhatsApp service to get breaking news and top stories sent to your phone.

"We need a couple more in, obviously," boss Alan Sheehan said at the weekend.

"Everybody knows that. But when you're trying to focus on the team and pick a team for this, you're not sure if something will be done, or whether it's two weeks away or one week away.

"Hopefully we can continue to get a few little bits done."

The club are still expected to announce the signing of midfielder Marko Stamenic on a permanent deal from Nottingham Forest, with the New Zealand international watching on from the stands as his new side battled their way to a fine 1-0 win over Sheffield United at the weekend.
