Alan Stubbs urges Everton to sign striker who would be ‘perfect’ for Jack Grealish

Everton are looking to make further reinforcements after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Leeds United on Monday evening.

David Moyes’ side were second best against the newly promoted Premier League outfit, so there is clearly a pressing need to sign more fresh faces in the remaining couple of weeks of the window.

Moyes is exploring a deal to sign Yves Bissouma from Tottenham Hotspur, with the box-to-box midfielder valued at around £15m.

Tyler Dibling is also on Everton’s radar and he’s made it clear to Southampton that he wants to join the Merseysiders.

Former Everton defender Alan Stubbs has now come out and urged Everton to sign a striker who would complement Jack Grealish.

Alan Stubbs urges Everton to sign Jamie Vardy

Speaking to talkSPORT, Stubbs explained that former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy would be perfect for Everton.

Asked if Moyes should try to sign free agent Vardy, Stubbs said: “Oh 100 per cent. I think he’s very different to what we’ve got as well.

“We’ve got two very similar strikers, two big lads but we haven’t got anyone who’s that direct and most importantly, a proven goalscorer.

“You look at Iliman Ndiaye, Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, they’re players who are looking to slide balls in down the side.

“They are looking for a clever player to run onto them. I’ve got to be honest, I think Vardy is a perfect player for Everton right now.”

Everton are considering a move for Jamie Vardy

It’s understood that Everton are showing an interest in Vardy, who is a free agent after leaving Leicester last month.

Celtic, Rangers and Napoli are also considering a move to sign the 38-year-old, who was City’s top scorer last term.

Indeed, if Vardy were to sign, Thierno Barry would still be expected to lead the line most weeks, but he’d be a great option to have from the bench.

Whilst the former England international is past his peak, he certainly hasn’t lost that poacher’s instinct which saw him net a commendable nine goals last term in a struggling side.
