The Ohio State Buckeyes are officially entrusting their repeat title chances to Julian Sayin. The former Alabama QB who transferred last year and sat behind Will Howard, who is now off to the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who won the title. Now, the job is Sayin's.
There might be some unease over handing the reigns of the defending champions to a player with virtually no collegiate experience yet, but Sayin might be a huge difference-maker for the Buckeyes, according to PFF.
One PFF analyst said, "Sayin was the number two quarterback coming out of high school a couple of years ago, a top 10 recruit overall, a five-star coming out of high school... Julian Sayin is a very good rhythm pocket passer. He's extremely accurate to all levels of the field."
Sayin also has the benefit of "the best receiving corps" in the sport to throw to. He can utilize Jeremiah Williams, a genuine superstar at the wide receiver position, but he also has Carnell Tate and a host of dependable targets out wide. Sayin's job isn't going to be difficult, but he might be the perfect successor to keep the Buckeyes at a dominant level.
