A wide receiver who has history with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills is expected to return to Orchard Park for a free-agent visit this week to try to secure a spot with his former team.

Gabe Davis, who left the Bills in 2024 to join the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent, is visiting Western New York as general manager Brandon Beane scours the market to try to find Allen another reliable receiver, according to a report from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
With Khalil Shakir recovering from a high ankle sprain and Curtis Samuel yet to participate in a padded practice during training camp, the Bills signed receiver Grant DuBose, who spent the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins. DuBose was a seventh-round draft pick of the Packers in 2023, but he didn't make his regular-season NFL debut until last season with the Dolphins.
Seventh-round rookie receiver Kaden Prather and nickel cornerback Te'Cory Couch were designated as waived/injured Tuesday. Prather re-injured his hamstring in the Bills' 38-0 preseason loss Sunday night, and Couch suffered a hamstring injury during the joint practice Friday at Halas Hall.

Additionally, the Bills signed running back Jarveon Howard and placed running back Darrynton Evans on injured reserve. Evans injured his hamstring late in the joint practice with the Bears at Halas Hall on Friday. Howard, who began his college career at Syracuse, most recently played in the UFL. His 74-yard touchdown run for St. Louis in March was the longest by any player in the regular season in league history.
It's not certain that Davis will visit One Bills Drive, though. On Tuesday, he's making his second visit to Pittsburgh to meet with the Steelers, who want to add another veteran receiver for Aaron Rodgers. According to Dulac, the Steelers had concerns about Davis' medicals when he visited in June.
Dubose is an intriguing addition for the final preseason game Saturday at Tampa, but he doesn't have Davis' production and relationship with Allen. Davis appeared in 64 regular-season games with the Bills from 2020 to 2023, catching 183 passes for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. He had two memorable playoff performances, including eight catches for 201 yards and four touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 AFC divisional round.
Davis had three seasons with seven touchdowns, and he had a career-high 836 receiving yards in 2022. The Jaguars signed Davis to a three-year, $39 million contract in 2024, but he caught 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns before he suffered a season-ending knee injury. The torn meniscus took longer to heal than expected and delayed his ability to join another team after the Jaguars cut him.
