Chelsea make decision on future of Fulham-linked £50 million misfit, eight players on exit trail

Chelsea are reportedly desperate to offload Raheem Sterling, and the West London club are open to a potential loan move.

Chelsea have yet again forked out a fortune to reinforce their squad this summer. Now, they are looking to offload quite a few of their stars to turn a profit this summer. They have already offloaded ten players and could let go of another eight, including Raheem Sterling.

According to a report from The Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are keen on getting the former Manchester City star off their books. While they would prefer a permanent departure, they are also willing to sanction another loan departure, as his massive wages are a big hurdle for interested clubs.

Sterling joined the Blues back in 2022 in a deal worth £50 million. While he was an important part of their first team in the initial years, he has gone down the pecking order of late. The English international spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Arsenal.

While Mikel Arteta was keen on having him in their ranks, the move didn’t really go according to plan. He is back at Stamford Bridge and still has two years left on his deal, but the 30-year-old is not a part of Enzo Maresca’s plans and is training away from the first team.

Fulham are keen on signing Sterling

The Blues have been on the lookout for a new club for Sterling, and his representatives are also at work. Fulham have emerged as a potential destination. The Cottagers seek more firepower in the final third, and the English winger could certainly help their cause.

His experience could come in handy for Marco Silva’s team. Meanwhile, the player reportedly prefers a move within the Premier League, and he could fancy the chance of joining Fulham, as his family is settled in London.

While he may weigh up better offers from elsewhere, a move to Fulham could work in his favour with the World Cup just 12 months away. Chelsea, for their part, would prefer to cash in, but with the forward earning over £300,000 per week, few clubs can realistically afford a permanent deal.

As a result, the Blues are open to sanctioning another loan move, with the club willing to cover part of his hefty wages. Beyond Sterling, Chelsea are also prepared to part ways with Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, and Tyrique George before the window closes.

The departure of these eight players would provide significant financial relief, helping offset the heavy outlay made during the summer.
