Napoli could reportedly sign Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United as Romelu Lukaku faces months out with an injury.
The former United striker sustained a torn quad muscle during their final pre-season friendly before the Serie A season starts. Napoli have said Lukaku will undergo a surgical consultation after beginning his rehabilitation programme.
Lorenzo Lucca signed earlier this summer and will deputise for the Belgium international, but is now their only recognised centre-forward after they loaned Giovanni Simeone to Torino and Galatasaray re-signed Victor Osimhen. Antonio Conte is said to therefore want another option who will aid their title defence this season.
The Guardian reports that Napoli are considering moving for Hojlund after monitoring the Denmark international. The report claims Conte is an admirer of Hojlund's; however, his club would reportedly favour a loan deal instead of the permanent move United would prefer.

Milan are also credited with an interest in the striker, a team Hojlund would be open to joining. They, though, are also seeking a loan move with United valuing the striker at around £30million.
Atalanta are another Italian club said to be following the situation surrounding their former player. After unexpectedly selling Mateo Retegui to Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah this summer, they need a new striker.
Moving to Napoli, though, would reunite Hojlund with former United teammate Scott McTominay. They played together 34 times during the 2023/24 season, with the latter assisting his striker for the opening goal during a 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen in the Champions League group stages.
Hojlund will hope for a similar revival in Serie A as the midfielder. McTominay scored 12 goals and assisted another six last season to help Napoli win the title before being named the league's most valuable player and, more recently, earning a Ballon d'Or nomination in recognition of those standout performances.
