After 11 NBA seasons, the 34-year-old John Wall has announced his retirement from basketball via an emotional Instagram post, captioned "Retired but never done."

A five-time NBA All-Star out of Kentucky, Wall was selected first overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA Draft after one season in college.
He spent the majority of his career with the Wizards (2010–2020) and also played for the Houston Rockets (2020–2022) and Los Angeles Clippers (2022–2023).
Known for his elite playmaking and speed as a point guard, Wall earned All-NBA Third Team honors in 2017 and won the 2014 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He also led the league in steals during the 2016–17 season.
Over 647 regular-season games, he averaged 18.7 points, 8.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.
Injuries, including a ruptured Achilles in 2019, significantly affected the latter part of his career, and he had not played since January 2023.
