Fabrizio Romano provides another update on Alexander Isak and Liverpool as the saga continues to draw into the late stages of August.
Many believe that once the Premier League showdown between Liverpool and Newcastle United takes place on Monday Night Football next week, there will be major developments in this transfer.
As things stand, the player remains apart from the Newcastle squad as he waits for Liverpool and Newcastle to reach an agreement.
Having already submitted a league-record £110m bid for Isak last month, Liverpool have made it clear to Isak that they want him and can afford the transfer fee required.
Liverpool spent £116m to sign Florian Wirtz and any fee to sign Isak will have to be another Premier League record transfer fee to get it done.
Fabrizio Romano says Isak has sent “a strong message”, rejecting record Newcastle contract
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano reports that Isak has been steadfast in refusing to return to Newcastle training and remains adamant that he will leave the club before 1 September.
The Swede has reportedly rejected a contract from Newcastle that would have been their record highest ever salary. Additionally, they offered to include an exit clause for next summer.
Isak said no.
Romano said: “What I can tell you guys is that Newcastle got, again, a strong message from the player. Newcastle these weeks, July, August, always tried to approach Alexander Isak.
“Always tried to say, are you sure there is not even one single way to continue together?
? NEWS: Alexander Isak has no intention to change his mind.
He only wants Liverpool Football Club. Liverpool will be very ready to bid for Alexander Isak.
Liverpool never approached any other striker.

“They even offered him a new contract with a record salary for the club, but also with an exit clause, to let the player go in 2026. Alexander Isak, again, is saying no chance.
“Alexander Isak has no intention to change his mind. Those close to Alexander Isak maintain the same position, only Liverpool Football Club. Only waiting for the next steps on this story.”
Liverpool are “ready to bid again for Isak”
With time rapidly running out both, for Liverpool to sign Isak, and for Newcastle to make the two attacking signings they’ve been desperate and unsuccessful in making this summer so far.
Romano continued: “Liverpool are ready to bid again for Isak. I keep repeating that since July, and that’s my position.
“Liverpool, if Newcastle will open doors, will be very ready with a new proposal. Forget about Liverpool not bidding. They will be very ready. They are very ready.
“And this is very clear after almost 10 days since this story is entering its really hot stages, and Liverpool never approached any other striker.”
