Two weeks to go until the summer transfer window closes and Manchester United arguably still have a lot of work to do.
Sunday's defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League did offer encouragement that the club is heading in the right direction, despite missing out on all three points. Ruben Amorim and Co. will be determined to get their first win of the campaign when they take on Brighton this weekend.
Between now and then, United are likely to be working on plenty of deals behind the scenes. United have until September 1 to complete their transfer business, meaning there is now less than two weeks before United are no longer able to strengthen their squad.
Here, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at what transfer business United could look to complete before the deadline.
Sign a goalkeeper
Much has been written and speculated about the goalkeeping position at United this summer. Andre Onana was not in the matchday squad against Arsenal, with Altay Bayindir called upon and the goalkeeper conceded against the Gunners has led to some criticism being directed at the Turkey international.
A host of goalkeepers have been linked with moves to United this summer, including Gianluigi Donnarumma at Paris Saint-Germain and Emi Martinez at Aston Villa. There have also been rumours that Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp may also be a target for United.
In a dream scenario, United would be able to sign a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes and transform the defence available to Amorim this season. The financials for a deal for either Donnarumma or Martinez appear to be out of reach for United this summer, however, which could leave Lammens as the obvious target.

Sign a midfielder
United have already been linked with signing a midfielder this summer, with Brighton star Carlos Baleba being a target just a week ago. That deal looks unlikely to happen, but United would still be wise to go into the market for reinforcements for the middle of the park.
A host of names have been mentioned as potential targets, including Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton. Just like with a deal for Baleba, that would likely take a fee of more than £100million and would be out of United's price range for the time being.
Despite this, United may need to sign a midfielder before the window closes. Morten Hjulmand and Lucien Agoume are other reported targets who could be more in United's price range.
Sell more players
United need to sanction the exits of some members of the squad before the transfer window closes.
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are all still at Old Trafford despite informing the club earlier in the summer of a desire to leave.
Rasmus Hojlund is also being heavily linked with a move away from United following the arrival of Sesko.
If United can find a way to get the five aforementioned players a new club and a fresh start, it would be beneficial for everyone involved.
