“Deal On”: Romano Claims Chelsea Are Close To A Sale Which Could Green Light Garnacho Transfer

Fabrizio Romano has said that Chelsea are close to selling Christopher Nkunku to Bayern Munich.

Chelsea are looking to make some sales this summer before they can sign any more players, and there are several names that have been linked to leaving. The likes of Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are all expected to leave this summer.

Nkunku is perhaps one of the more valuable assets that Chelsea want to sell, after a season where he scored 14 goals in all competitions for Enzo Maresca‘s side. He has been perennially linked with Bayern Munich, and it now seems that the German club are close to landing him.

Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “Negotiations between Bayern and Chelsea will continue from tomorrow as current status is still no agreement. Bayern insisting for initial loan, Chelsea only want a permanent transfer. Nkunku wants the move… since January. Deal on but no agreement done or close yet.”

Nkunku sale could green light Garnacho and Simons deals

If the Blues are able to sell Nkunku, it could provide them with both the squad space, wage budget and funds to sign their two remaining summer transfer targets, Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons.

Garnacho is expected to cost up to £50m from Man United, and is in talks over a deal with Chelsea. It has also been reported that the winger wants the move to Stamford Bridge, and so, it feels likely to happen if Nkunku is sold.

Simons is also a target, he is expected to command a similar transfer fee to Garnacho, with RB Leipzig willing to sell the Dutchman, who reportedly wants to move to Chelsea too.

If they can sell Nkunku, and more names, then Maresca’s attacking options could get a huge boost moving forward, which will be useful considering his side didn’t score in their opening game against Crystal Palace.
