Man United Backed Not To Make The Same "Mistake" With Amorim Despite Sack Verdict

Paul Parker disagrees with those who think that Man United boss Ruben Amorim will be the first manager sacked this season.

A FanView survey conducted by SkyBet has revealed that supporters think the Portuguese head coach is the most likely to win the Premier League sack race. However, Parker believs the Red Devils have invested so much money in the squad that Amorim will be backed even if results are poor:

“I can’t see Ruben Amorim being sacked this season, because this is the most a United manager has ever been backed since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Before, it was late signings and panic buys, and it feels more assured. He still doesn’t have the number of signings that he’d like, but they’re backing him.”

“To make that mistake again of allowing a manager to spend and then getting rid of them, as they did with Erik ten Hag – but I don’t think it’ll happen. This season, they’ll score more goals and create more opportunities – they have a much-improved front three.”

There were some promising signs against Arsenal

Although Amorim’s team were on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat at home on the opening day, most pundits agreed that they were unlucky to be on the losing side.

Two members of the new front three, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, did make a very good impression, which bodes well for the future.

Are Man United likely to sack Amorim?

Bookmakers actually have pretty long odds (10/1 to 11/1) on the 40-year-old leaving his post before other Premier League managers.

West Ham’s Graham Potter and Brentford’s Keith Andrews are deemed a lot more likely to be given their marching orders following very poor performances in the first round of fixtures.

The Hammers lost 3-0 to newly-promoted Sunderland, while the Bees were beaten 3-1 by Nottingham Forest.
