Arsenal in talks to sell international defender

Arsenal will hope to build on their narrow victory over Manchester United when they face Leeds United on Saturday.

Riccardo Calafiori’s first-half goal earned Mikel Arteta’s side a 1-0 win against the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon, and the Spaniard will be hoping to see his side pick up all three points when they welcome the Whites to The Emirates.

In the meantime, it appears that one member of Arteta’s squad could soon be leaving the club.

According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal are in talks with Porto over a deal for defender Jakob Kiwior to join the Portuguese club.

It is claimed that the Portuguese side are hoping to tie up a deal for the Poland international, who is under contract until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Porto are said to be proposing an initial season-long loan move for the full-back, which would also include an obligation-to-buy clause which would become active next summer.

Kiwior, 25, joined the Gunners from Italian side Spezia back in 2023 and has since played 68 times for the club across all competitions.

The versatile defender can play as a left-back or centre-back, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in North London and it appears that his future could lie away from the capital.

Last season the Polish defender started just ten of the Gunners’ 38 Premier League games and featured only 30 times across all competitions, with a number of players seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order at The Emirates.

The report suggests that the main obstacle preventing a deal from already having been agreed is the player’s salary, with Porto keen for Arsenal to pay part of Kiwior’s wages during the initial loan spell.
