Manchester City sent out a statement to the rest of the Premier League on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola watched his side dismantle Wolves, scoring four excellent goals at Molineux to emphatically bounce back from a tough 2024/25 campaign which saw Manchester City finish third.
Liverpool and Arsenal also picked up wins on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season – meaning we could have a special title race on our hands – but Gary Neville thinks the Citizens will outdo the two.
Gary Neville tips Manchester City to wrestle back the Premier League title
Manchester City had won four Premier League titles in a row before Liverpool took the crown last season.
However, Neville feels the Citizens are going to reclaim the title this season – despite keeping Arsenal as his predicted title winners due to an earlier call.

The 50-year-old said: I am going to stick with Arsenal (to win the title) – purely through stubbornness – (but) I actually think City are gonna win the league.”
It is a strange way to make a prediction, but Neville – who was impressed by Tijjani Reijnders – clearly has a strong feeling that Manchester City mean business this season.
Harry Redknapp disagrees with Gary Neville because of two players
Harry Redknapp is another leading figure in football to share his predictions for the 2025/26 campaign, and feels Manchester City will not win the title due to the departures of experienced heads in Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker.
The 78-year-old told The Sun: “We have to mention Manchester City and Pep Guardiola – you can never write them off but there are questions.
“They will miss Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker, Rodri is still not quite fit and there are always worries over whether John Stones can be available – he’s a fantastic player.”

To add to this, there has also been a notable change in a key position as Guardiola swaps Ederson for James Trafford – a talented goalkeeper, albeit one who spent last season in the Championship.
Having said that, Gianluigi Donnarumma could still join Manchester City and dislodge the England U21 international from in between the posts – a top goalkeeper who is no stranger to winning the biggest prizes.
