America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will be back for more iconic performances and heartbreaking goodbyes.

In August 2025, Netflix confirmed that the series is returning for season 3 in 2026. The streamer shared a glimpse of filming for the new episodes on Instagram.

After it was first released on Netflix in June 2024, the docuseries quickly gained a large audience of fans. Not only did it land a spot in the streaming platform's top 10, but it also sparked a nationwide fascination with the cheer squad, from an influx of TikTok users recreating their "Thunderstruck" routine to Chrissy Teigen parodying the audition process with her daughters.

The highly anticipated second season was released on Netflix on June 18, spotlighting a new group of hopeful rookies and returning veterans vying for a coveted place on the team. Alongside the intense audition and training camp process, the season also explored deeper storylines, including the fight for higher pay, one veteran's alopecia journey and a rule-breaking incident that shook the team.

By the end of the season, several veterans hung up their uniforms and marked the end of their chapter with the iconic team. Meanwhile, many other team members announced their plans to re-audition for the 2025-2026 season, leaving viewers eager to see how their journeys continue — and find out whether any now-open spots will be filled by rookie candidates who didn’t make the cut in season 2.

By the end of season 2, several veterans announced their retirement during uniform returns, including Armani Latimer, Jada Mclean, Amanda Howard and Chandi Dayle.

Fifth-year veteran Latimer shared it was time for "a new chapter" and that she wanted to be part of things "happening on the outside," while fifth-year veteran Mclean said although she would "do this forever" if she could, she had to be "realistic" that this was only a short part of her life.

Mclean added, "I'm sad, but it's a bittersweet sadness. It's just sad that it all is over, but I'm very happy with how the last five years have gone, and I'm at a place where I need to see what's next in life."

As for Howard, the third-year veteran said she was exiting because of "the way some things were handled throughout the year."

Howard had been partially leading the fight for higher pay, and was "disappointed" by how the "contract situation" played out, noting that she felt her relationship dynamic with Finglass and Trammell had shifted.

"It broke my heart because I just want to feel worth and value," she told the two. "I feel like I don't feel that here, unfortunately, and so it's time for the next chapter."

While many of these alumni won't be part of the DCC squad, retired veterans from season 1 — including Victoria Kalina and Kelcey Wetterberg — made brief appearances in season 2. If season 3 follows suit, some retired veterans may make brief returns to the show.
