Everton identify 'important' £20 million Tyler Dibling alternative at West Brom after transfer saga with Southampton

Tyler Dibling has been a player Everton have been interested in bringing to Merseyside throughout the summer transfer window; however, the Premier League side may be exploring alternatives now.

Southampton made it clear with a ‘counter offer’ what it would take to bring the teenager from St Mary’s to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the upcoming season.

David Moyes then spoke about the difficulty Everton have had in the summer transfer window in terms of bringing players to the club, with the question being focused on their failure to acquire Tyler Dibling.

Now, Everton may be ready to move on from chasing the English starlet, with alternative options being explored.

Everton may be looking at West Brom’s Tom Fellows

It was first reported in the Liverpool Echo that Everton were going to start exploring options for who could be alternative signings to Tyler Dibling from Southampton.

It now appears that the Toffees have done just that, with it being in the shape of Tom Fellows, who has impressed with West Brom at the start of the season, as reported in both the Birmingham World and the Express and Star.

Everton were previously linked with Fellows earlier in the summer; however, due to their chase of Dibling, the interest in Fellows dried up, now they appear to be picking it back up.

Fellows has shown that he is one of the most exciting talents in the league in that right-wing position, an area that Everton are lacking.

Following Everton’s lacklustre performance against Leeds United in their opening game of the Premier League season, they need a player that can inject some energy into the side, which is exactly what Fellows can do at the club, as seen in his West Brom performances.

The cost of Tom Fellows to Everton

It is being speculated by Birmingham World that Everton could secure a deal for the West Brom winger for a fraction of the price that they would have secured the Dibling deal.

Everton’s final bid for Dibling was £37.5 million, which is believed to be £17.5 million more than what they have to pay for Fellows from West Brom.

It is expected to be more expensive due to Dibling having Premier League experience, while Fellows has yet to play at that level.

Fellows has been a key part of the West Brom squad under Mason so far; however, he had been an essential part under previous manager Carlos Corberán, who previously spoke with Birmingham Mail about his impact.

He said: “I know Tom is an academy player, an important player for us making good things, and still he has to grow.

“We are very happy to have him in the squad. Sometimes, probably in the past, this club, when I was here, didn’t have the possibility to say no to things that were not the right things.”
