Contacts are continuing between Napoli and Manchester United for Rasmus Hojlund, with a loan deal being worked on.
That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, [via Napoli Magazine](https://napolimagazine.com/in-evidenza/articolo/rai-venerato-napoli-contatti-con-il-manchester-united-per-hojlund-affare-in-prestito-con-diritto-di-19-08-2025), who reports that the Italian side are prepared to pay a loan fee for the striker.
Hojlund is expected to leave Manchester United this summer after seemingly being deemed surplus to requirements by Ruben Amorim. That comes after a summer in which they’ve spent big on signings such as Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
The striker has long been linked with a return to Italy, where several sides have shown an interest in him.
Napoli are the latest as they seek a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in pre-season.
A loan deal for Hojlund has been progressing and a report earlier today made it clear that they had made something of a transfer charge to try and get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.
Venerato now provides the details on that and explains that contacts are ongoing between Manchester United and Napoli.
_“Contacts continue between Manchester United and Napoli for the Dane Rasmus Hojlund,”_ he said.
_“A €5m loan with a fixed purchase price of €40m, with no conditional obligation. Napoli is starting from this premise._
_“The Red Devils are open to the terms and conditions (the exact loan amount and instalments following the possible buyout are yet to be discussed), but the real master of the deal remains the player who would like greater guarantees for the following season._
_“They are working with the agents to unravel this mess. But after turning down Zirkzee, Napoli has chosen Hojlund as their first option. He is the only one who can arrive on a non-permanent basis and has no squad issues.”_
