Manchester City's Pep Guardiola says there's one band he thinks are even better than Oasis

Oasis have reunited this summer to tour around the UK and Ireland, with millions flocking to stadiums to watch the British band live for the first time in over a decade.

The reunion tour has attracted some big stars to several shows, with Phil Foden and Jack Grealish among the crowd in Manchester, an event where the Man City winger declared his love for the blue side of the city.

Every show Oasis will play as part of their tour will take a piece of Man City with them, as the lifelong fans of the Citizens have a cardboard cutout of Pep Guardiola on stage donning a scarf with the Manchester club’s colours.

Guardiola attended the same Oasis gig as Grealish in July, and having seen the Gallagher brothers live for the first time since he became the manager of Man City, the legendary coach has concluded that only one band in history is better.

Pep Guardiola thinks The Beatles are the only band better than Oasis

The Gallagher brothers are in love with Guardiola after all he has done for their football club, and even shouted out the Man City manager at the Oasis gig he attended.

Speaking about his relationship with the Gallagher brothers, Guardiola has stated that he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the Oasis concert, before going on to say that only The Beatles are a better band than the one the Gallagher brothers play in.

“I was overwhelmed, maybe it’s the best band in the last 50 years after maybe The Beatles or something like that, and they have this love for me, my family, for my family and myself, so how they cared for me since I arrived,” Guardiola told Men in Blazers.

“Listen, I want to confess something, when the first day I arrived here in Manchester City 10 years ago, the first interview was given, was done by Noel. So at the moment when I finished, I said, it’s impossible not to go well.

“So the first interview is being done by him. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a fantastic period.”

Pep Guardiola’s interview with Noel Gallagher

Guardiola sat down with Noel Gallagher upon joining Man City in 2016, where the duo discussed a range of topics.

Guardiola admitted he chose Man City because they wanted him a long time ago and because Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano were at the Premier League club, who are good friends of the legendary coach.

When asked what success would look like in three years from 2016, Guardiola responded by saying: “For the media, it is how many titles you are going to win. That is success or not. But while titles are amazing, two days after you lift it, people say what’s next?

“The process here is being comfortable working with these guys. At the end, my life depends on that. I’ll be happy when we decide to play in a way and it works.

“I am sure the club will be fantastic, and the people I am working with are going to help me. I am sure that will happen. It happened at Barcelona, and it happened at Bayern Munich.

“It will happen here. We are going to fight every day to lift the titles, but especially for the people when the game finishes and they think ’90 minutes that was not bad, I would have preferred to be here than in the bar’ that will be a good signal.

“Finally, the relationship with the people. Maybe because I am a Latin guy, I have to be close with the guys, to say ‘I’m going to kill you’ and five minutes later to love each other. I need that to be happy, and I hope that in three years, that is going to happen.”

Guardiola would not have expected to still be at Man City in 2025 if you told him that in 2016, and the legendary coach would also not have anticipated the amount of success he has had at the Etihad Stadium.

The Spaniard is arguably the greatest manager the Premier League has ever seen, and it all started around a Noel Gallagher interview.
