Report: Amorim asks Man Utd to sign 'world-class' £69m midfield star in 'bombshell' deal

Manchester United are showing interest in a 'bombshell' summer move for Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

The Old Trafford side are in the market for a new central midfielder with less than two weeks left in the transfer window and have identified the France international as a potential option.

Ruben Amorim is said to be a strong admirer of Camavinga and has spoken in internal meetings about the 22-year-old’s suitability for his system, praising his intensity and reading of the game.

United saw their pursuit of Carlos Baleba collapse last week after Brighton issued a hands-off warning, insisting the midfielder is not for sale this summer.

They have also reportedly enquired about Crystal Palace starlet Adam Wharton, but the south London club are not looking to sell either amid Eberechi Eze’s anticipated departure to Tottenham.

According to Fichajes, United chiefs are considering presenting an offer close to €80m (£69m) for Camavinga, who is valued by Real Madrid in a similar range.

Los Blancos would only entertain the 22-year-old’s departure if their demands are met and have communicated to interested parties via intermediaries that they are looking for a fee of at least €80m.

Camavinga is set to miss Real’s season opener against Osasuna after suffering a sprained ankle earlier this month, which has sidelined the midfielder for around seven weeks.

The 'world-class' France international has suffered five injuries in the last 12 months, limiting him to 19 appearances in LaLiga last season, 11 of which were starts.

Fichajes claims he is still considered a key player by new manager Xabi Alonso, even if his recurring injuries have raised concerns among Real’s fan base.

Man United have splashed out over £200m on new signings this summer, including an initial £66m on former RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

The 22-year-old became United’s third major attacking signing after Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with all three featuring in the season-opening 1-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday.
