Former Spurs Player Has Announced His Retirement

It’s the end of the road for another NBA star.

According to Bleacher Report, Marco Belinelli announced that he will retire at 39 years old after 13 years in the league.

NBA fans haven’t seen Belinelli on the court in a few seasons, but he will always hold a special place in the hearts of San Antonio Spurs fans.

In a social media post, Belinelli sent a special message to his fans about his love of the sport.

“I gave it my heart. Every piece of me. Every single day. Basketball gave me everything… and I gave it everything I had. Saying goodbye isn’t easy. But it’s time I carry with me every emotion, every sacrifice, every cheer. Thank you to those who always believed. To the next generation—I leave a dream. Make it count,” Belinelli wrote.

The Italian guard got his start with the Golden State Warriors in 2007-08, before moving on to the Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Hornets, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, and Philadelphia 76ers.

He was part of the Spurs team when they won the championship in 2014, which was Belinelli’s crowning achievement.

He bounced around the league often and had a hard time settling down with one team, but most people will remember him as a Spurs star and loyal supporting player.

He leaves the league with a career average of 9.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 42.4 percent from the field.

Belinelli has been away from the NBA since 2019-2020 and spent time playing for the Lega Serie A in his home country.

Will he continue to play overseas or settle down and hang up his jersey for good?
