Although Ruben Amorim made the sensible decision to leave Benjamin Sesko on the bench for Manchester United against Arsenal, the striker did come on to debut.
In the 65th minute of Man United’s 1-0 defeat, Benjamin Sesko replaced Mason Mount to begin his new era at Old Trafford.
Of course, Sesko’s debut was always going to be under increased scrutiny given he was playing against Arsenal – the side who were originally trying to buy him this summer.
Before the Gunners signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, Arsenal were pushing to recruit Sesko, only to then be put off RB Leipzig’s asking price.
Nonetheless, Sesko is now United’s new #30, and given Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo’s excellent debuts, fans will be excited to see how the Slovenian will soon slot in.
Benjamin Sesko’s Man United debut excited Ian Wright
That being said, pundit Ian Wright has now shared his brief thoughts on Sesko’s debut, which was also only a small snippet of what’s to come.
Wright was actually discussing United’s 1-0 defeat predominantly from an Arsenal perspective on Arseblog’s ‘Arsecast’, but he still took a moment to share his thoughts on Sesko’s display.

Although the pair were never on the pitch at the same time, Sesko and Gyokeres’ debuts were being compared owing to the fact that both clubs playing were keen on both strikers.
But focusing just on Sesko, Wright was impressed.
He said: “Sesko coming on as well, you just felt something, he just looks like he’s ready to go.
“Even though he didn’t do as much as people might have thought he would have done in that state, but even just one back heel what he done, I thought, I like the vibe, I like the energy.”
Sesko thought Man United were unlucky to lose to Arsenal
Although Arsenal won all three points at Old Trafford, Amorim’s side were the better team for large periods, and without Altay Bayindir’s costly mistake, they might have been victorious.
Either way, Sesko took to Instagram after the game to send a message to United fans.
Sesko described United’s defeat as ‘unlucky’, and he did seem optimistic for what’s to come.
He wrote: “Proud to make my debut at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams.
“It wasn’t our day today, a tough and unlucky game, but we will keep pushing forward and giving our best together. This is only the beginning!”
And in response, some United fans seemed convinced that they had signed the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic after seeing Sesko on debut.
