The Pittsburgh Steelers' offense will look a whole lot different from years prior. The revamped team, led by offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. will prioritize health status as they prepare for Week 1 of the regular season against the New York Jets.
After signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal and trading for wide receiver DK Metcalf, head coach Mike Tomlin is hoping that they can improve from the 2024 season.
Rodgers and Metcalf will be accompanied by a running back room that includes Jaylen Warren and rookie Kaleb Johnson, along with tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith, and wide receivers Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson.
Aaron Rodgers praises second-year receiver Roman Wilson
-------------------------------------------------------
Some chemistry needs to be built between Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the team, and one highly anticipated target for the 41-year-old quarterback will be Roman Wilson, a 2024 third-round pick out of Michigan.
Wilson, 24, will look to have a much healthier second year after suffering multiple injuries in 2024. Rodgers said that he's excited to help develop the young pass-catcher during his time with the Steelers.
"We’re going to coach him hard. He’s a great talent, but that can make the difference. We’re going to hold him to a standard of excellence. He has a chance to be a big-time talent in the league," [Rodgers said, according to](https://x.com/FarabaughFB/status/1957856803535884378) Nick Farabaugh of _PennLive._
After injuring his ankle in the 2024 preseason, Roman Wilson fought his way back to the field, but suffered a hamstring injury after playing in just five snaps in his rookie season. Pittsburgh would then place him on IR and shut him down for the rest of the season.
The Michigan alum has high upside for the Steelers after playing on the biggest stage with the Wolverines in their College Playoff National Championship two years ago. During his senior year in 2023, Wilson tallied 48 receptions, 789 yards, and 12 touchdowns for coach Jim Harbaugh.
