Brentford targeting former player which could open door for Yoane Wissa's move to Newcastle…

· 19 August 2025, 19:00

**Newcastle United love a messy transfer, don't they? Not only do they have their own rebellious forward trying to engineer a move away from the club, but they have their sights set on a striker doing exactly the same in an effort to force a move to Tyneside.**

In both cases, the selling club is not keen on losing one of their star players, but both are now looking resigned to defeat.

While the Alexander Isak saga drags on, there seems to be no way back for the Swede, and the same seems true of Yoane Wissa at Brentford after the DR Congo striker went nuclear and removed all traces of Brentford from his Instagram.

Brentford had taken a hardline stance, insisting that the only way Wissa could leave was if Newcastle stumped up £60 million, which was never going to happen. However, their stance could be softening if the latest reports are to be believed.

Neal Maupay could be heading for a third spell at Brentford

Brentford are keen on re-signing Neal Maupay

--------------------------------------------

According to [French outlet Le10Sport](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-om-brentford-debarque-pour-maupay-754828), Brentford are interested in re-signing Neal Maupay, who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Maupay spent two years at Brentford before heading to Brighton and Everton, which also included a loan move back to Brentford for a season.

Now it looks like the Bees could be set to bring the 29-year-old to the Community Stadium for a third spell.

Newcastle fans have their reservations about Yoane Wissa

--------------------------------------------------------

If Brentford do move for Maupay and manage to get the deal completed, that should surely open the door for Yoane Wissa to leave.

It would just depend on whether Brentford would then lower their asking price, and of course, whether Newcastle still want Wissa after his actions this summer.

Newcastle fans are starting to have their reservations about his character after how he's dealt with things this summer, given how close it hits home. However, it's not like the Magpies are swimming in options right now.
