Man Utd striker Rasmus Hojlund is being inked-in for a transfer.

Manchester United's bid to offload Rasmus Hojlund has been dealt a major blow after Rodrigo Muniz's proposed move to Atalanta fell through. Hojlund, 22, was not included in the United squad to face Arsenal, in their Premier League curtain-raiser on Sunday, as the Reds look to cash in on the Dane.

Ruben Amorim made a call to leave him out, with the decision backed by senior leadership. Hojlund has said he's hoping to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his place, but United want to move him on. The Reds have placed a £40million asking price on Hojlund's head, though a loan with an option to buy could be considered.

Now, United's attempt to sell Hojlund has hit a stumbling block with one of his potential suitors - Fulham - set to keep hold of their star forward Muniz despite a bid from Serie A side Atalanta.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta's proposed switch for Muniz is OFF after Fulham didn't accept the Italian club's £34.5m proposal. Instead, Ivan Juric's side are closing in on a deal to sign Lecce's Nikola Kristovic.

Fulham remained adamant that they weren't going to sell Muniz until a replacement had been sourced, while out-of-favour United forward Hojlund was among those that the Whites were interested in.

But with Fulham on course to retain Muniz's services, United's attempt to sell Hojlund has taken a significant halt. The Denmark international has also been linked with a move to AC Milan and Napoli this summer.

Hojlund made a bright start to his United career, following his £62million plus add-ons move from Atalanta in 2023, scoring 16 times in 43 matches in his debut season. However, he struggled for form last campaign and his future has since become uncertain this summer, with Amorim not appearing to favour the Dane.

Speaking after Hojlund didn't feature against Arsenal, Amorim warned the 22-year-old striker that he'll remain on the side-lines if he doesn't "do what's required."

"At United, if you don't do what's required, then a teammate will take your place," Amorim said. "I've made a lot of mistakes, but I've shown that if you deserve it, you play."

The head coach added: "He has to fight for his place. We will see what's going to happen in the market.

"Rasmus has the same characteristics as Ben [Sesko], so sometimes we need to chose."
