Aston Villa have held talks to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Villans are in the market for new additions after a relatively slow start to the summer transfer window. Jackson is a player who is likely to be on the move before the market slams shut in August, with Chelsea opting to bring in both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, who appear to be ahead of Jackson in the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.
Although signing a striker might not seem like an immediate priority for Villa, they are yet to replace Jhon Duran, who left the club during the January transfer window. Marcus Rashford was brought in on loan, but Unai Emery's side opted against turning his loan move permanent from Manchester United, with the England international now joining Barcelona on loan for the campaign.

According to Sky Sports journalist Plettenberg, Aston Villa have added Jackson to their shortlist, and have already held talks over securing his signature. Jackson is on the verge of leaving Chelsea, and Aston Villa are 'now there' in terms of potentially bringing him to the club this summer...

It's reported that Chelsea could demand in the region of £80m to allow Jackson to depart, so it will be interesting to see whether Villa are willing to pay this kind of fee to bring him to the club. Jackson, who has been described as "unbelievable" by Peter Crouch, was highly rated before joining Chelsea and enjoyed a reasonable 2024/2025 season, but he's always going to find it tricky to find regular minutes with Joao Pedro and Delap now options for Maresca.
