Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys have been at odds with each other over contract differences for months now. While this situation has lasted longer than fans hoped, many still figured that a deal would get done. Parsons has established himself as one of the best defenders in the entire league and letting him finish his career elsewhere would be foolish.
However, that is exactly what Dallas is getting ready to do.

There has been a lot of noise surrounding the Dallas Cowboys’ offseason. It may be sooner than fans expect that Micah Parsons and Dallas will split. This was reported by ESPN insider Adam Schefter. As Parsons considers drastic measures to push the front office, fans are already frustrated:
Schefter made his point on ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike.
“Today I feel comfortable saying I don’t think he’ll finish his career in Dallas,” he said. ***“The way things have gotten this offseason, the way people are talking, the way things sound, yeah, I would think that there is a real possibility that this potentially could be the last year for Micah in Dallas.***”
That’s a gut punch for Cowboys Nation. But Schefter also reminded everyone that this is nothing new. Dallas feeds on drama, and Jerry Jones seems to welcome it.
Parsons has refused to take part in training camp. The standoff with the team keeps dragging, and trade rumors are picking up steam. Schefter explained that unless Dallas suddenly makes Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, the relationship looks bad.

***“There’s zero indication that’s going to happen,***” he said.“It sounds like the two sides are headed towards a divorce at some time.”
The linebacker has been pushing for a long-term deal since 2023. Dallas exercised his fifth-year option this offseason, and with the franchise tag in their pocket until 2028, the team holds most of the leverage. But Micah Parsons’ decision to hold out raises the stakes, forcing Dallas to weigh whether it can risk letting this drag into the season.
This isn’t just another offseason headline. Parsons is the face of the defense and one of the most dominant players in the league. Losing him would be a seismic shift for a team that believes it can compete for a Super Bowl.
And while Dallas plays hardball, other teams are already circling. Reports even suggest the Packers floated a massive trade package for Parsons, a sign of how quickly this situation could escalate if Jones doesn’t act.
