Jermain Defoe says Man United have a £37m player who’s even better than Ethan Nwaneri

Manchester United were defeated by Arsenal on Sunday, but there were plenty of positives to take from this performance.

Indeed, Manchester United showed plenty of promise against Arsenal at the weekend, and there’s a case to be made that Ruben Amorim’s side should have won the game.

Speaking to Goal, Jermain Defoe has been comparing some of the past and present stars of Manchester United and Arsenal, and he’s made an interesting claim about one of United’s most exciting talents.

Indeed, when asked to choose between Amad Diallo and Ethan Nwaneri, Defoe ultimately chose Diallo.

Jermain Defoe picks Amad Diallo over Ethan Nwaneri

Defoe was tasked with picking between numerous figures from Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Tottenham legend was balanced in his decision-making as he picked Declan Rice over Kobbie Mainoo and Dennis Bergkamp over Ruud van Nistelrooy.

However, when he was asked to pick between the £37m man and Nwaneri, he chose the Manchester United star.

Nwaneri is a special talent who is one of the most promising young players in the Premier League right now, but after a standout campaign last season, Defoe picked Diallo ahead of the young English star.

Diallo has been brilliant in recent times, and deserves all of the attention coming his way.

Defoe picked Diallo ahead of Nwaneri, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Indeed, the Ivorian has much more experience than the Arsenal youngster, and he’s a key player at Manchester United, while Nwaneri is on the fringes of the Arsenal XI at the moment.

The stats show that Diallo is ahead of Nwaneri right now.

However, at the age of just 19, Nwaneri has time on his side as he aims to catch up to the likes of Diallo and become a superstar in his own right.

Diallo and Nwaneri could be set to have fantastic seasons, and they could be two players who define the Premier League for years to come.
