Conor Coady shares what ‘the Wolves boys’ told him about Man United’s Matheus Cunha

Former Wolves star Conor Coady has revealed what Wolves players told him about Matheus Cunha and why he thinks he will do well at Man United.

Conor Coady made over 300 appearances for Wolves in seven seasons at Molineux, bringing the Old Gold back to the Premier League and reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Now lacing up for Wrexham, Coady appeared on BBC’s Monday Night Club where he discussed his new club, stories from his career, and what his former teammates told him about Matheus Cunha.

Conor Coady loves Matheus Cunha’s edge and says Wolves players agreed

When asked about Cunha’s contentious personality, which he displayed again and again for Wolves, Coady had this to say: “I think Man United needs someone who plays on the edge like him. I love players who play on the edge. I love how he does it.”

Cunha certainly played on the edge, earning a couple of suspensions last season for fiery reactions, including breaking an opposing security guard’s glasses.

But his former teammates understood it’s a package deal with the Brazilian magician, as Coady explained: “I spoke to the Wolves boys about him, and I think they could take a suspension here and there. It sounds really stupid, but because of what he brought in the other games and how he would win them games.”

Conor Coady praised former teammate Ruben Neves’ professionalism at Wolves

Coady was asked about a player who made a memorable first impression on him, good or bad, and Coady picked Ruben Neves for his answer, saying: “Someone who made a good impression on me was Ruben Neves at Wolves. I loved him to bits.

“I thought his professionalism from when he first came in, his will to win, how he wanted to do things, that’s the biggest one that really sticks out in my mind.”

Neves was a valuable piece of the Wolves side that enjoyed so much success at the end of the last decade, playing with Coady for five seasons.

We all know the Portuguese midfielder was a class act, but that he sprung so quickly to Coady’s mind is testament to just how much of a professional he was for Wolves.
