“He Loves Football”: Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin Makes Passionate Statement…

The Pittsburgh Steelers enter the 2025 NFL season with Super Bowl expectations like always. Pittsburgh finished with a 10-7 record last season and lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the first-round of the NFL playoffs.

The Steelers are hoping things could change for them in 2025. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the starter after signing a one-year deal with the team. He is entering the final year of his NFL career potentially. Pittsburgh has not won the Super Bowl since the 2008 season against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mike Jones of the Athletic covers the Steelers and he interviewed head coach Mike Tomlin about Rodgers. The relationship between Tomlin and Rodgers has been great so far. Tomlin said about Rodgers,

“He loves football. That’s the thing that’s on the tip of my tongue. He displays it daily. He has a love affair with this game — one that he’s willing to share with others. He’s passionate about it, and I think it’s contagious.”

There are people who have claimed he does not love football anymore and he has gone on these darkness retreats and other stuff like that. Maybe Rodgers will be more focused during the 2025 season with Pittsburgh. During the 2024 NFL season with the New York Jets, he completed 63.0% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Rodgers is 41 years old. Pittsburgh decided to sign him and bring back Mason Rudolph at quarterback. They also have rookie Will Howard in the quarterback room as well. Last season, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson started games for the Steelers, but they didn’t re-sign either player. Rodgers had a good year last season with the Jets, and he is looking to have one more caliber NFL season before he rides into the sunset also.
