If Leeds United fans had forgotten, Ethan Ampadu reminded supporters of the bad blood between Leeds and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall during the 1-0 win over Everton.
During the 2023-24 season, Leicester secured promotion as Championship winners with Leeds left to scrap for promotion via the play-offs. Ultimately, Southampton beat Leeds in the final at Wembley.
It forced Leeds to do another year in the Championship and it is hampering the club even now, with Leeds restricted to what they can spend because two of the last three years have been in the second tier.
When Leicester did pip Leeds to the title, despite beating Leicester both home and away that season, Everton’s new £24.5m signing Dewsbury-Hall mocked Leeds on social media after securing promotion.

The bad blood involving Leeds and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Following a 3-1 win over Leicester at Elland Road, which included Archie Gray’s only goal for Leeds prior to his move to Tottenham, Georginio Rutter claimed Leeds were the best team in the Championship.
Probably ill-advised, but after Leicester secured the title, Dewsbury-Hall replied with a thinking emoji on X. Then, at Leicester’s awards evening, Dewsbury-Hall and the Leicester players sang ‘I Predict A Riot’.
That summer, Dewsbury-Hall left Leicester anyway. He joined Chelsea and became a Europa Conference League champion and a Club World Cup champion, making the same move as manager Enzo Maresca.

Leeds retaliate as Ethan Ampadu reignites Dewsbury-Hall rivalry
On Monday, Dewsbury-Hall made his Everton debut after a £24.5m move from Chelsea. But the former Leicester man failed to make much of an impact. On the flip side, Ethan Ampadu was sensational.
Before he was taken off on 78 minutes, Jamie Carragher described Ampadu as the best player on the pitch. That was only after he absolutely clamped Dewsbury-Hall, and Leeds posted a video on Instagram.
Clearly, Leeds know what they’re doing. They know it is Dewsbury-Hall and Ampadu himself made it obvious he remembers Dewsbury-Hall’s antics, winning a free-kick and pushing him in another incident.
Dewsbury-Hall may have had the better of it over the last couple of years compared to Leeds, but The Whites had the last laugh on Monday night as Daniel Farke’s side beat Everton on Dewsbury-Hall’s debut.
