Exclusive: Everton and Crystal Palace on red alert as 'special' £17m forward now told to leave his club

TBR Football can now exclusively reveal that Crystal Palace and Everton are attentive to the sudden availability of Jonathan Rowe.

The England U21 international has been put up for sale by Marseille along with Adrien Rabiot after an alleged fight between the two, following a 1-0 defeat to Rennes on Friday.

Jonathan Rowe was a popular player in England during his days at Norwich – showing electric talent which led to a £17m move to Marseille in August 2024 – but after just one full season in France, sources are informing TBR Football that a Premier League switch could be on.

Exclusive: Crystal Palace and Everton aware of Jonathan Rowe situation along with West Ham and Brentford

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – can now confirm that Crystal Palace and Everton are keen on the Londoner as well as West Ham and Brentford.

Rowe – born in Westminster – has been told to leave by Marseille, with sources stressing that there is a “good chance” the forward returns to England before the transfer deadline on Monday 1st September.

We understand a host of clubs in Italy and Germany are also in contact over the 22-year-old, who has plenty of options on the table as his Marseille career nears an end.

Rowe – who Newcastle considered before signing Anthony Elanga – scored three goals and provided three assists across 28 appearances in Ligue 1 last season.

The Marseille No.17 also scored the goal which won England the UEFA U21 European Championship earlier this summer, nodding home a header to seal a 3-2 win over Germany.

Jonathan Rowe has been called a “special” talent and has interesting Tyrick Mitchell connection

Should a move to Crystal Palace materialise, Rowe – who has been compared to Sadio Mane – would be reunited with Tyrick Mitchell.

The pair played together at AFC Wembley during their childhood, where Mo Jama – who founded the youth club – only had good things to say about the Marseille outcast.

Jama has previously told Sky Sports: “We knew instantly there was something a little bit different, a little bit special about him. Some boys are a bit shy when they first come in, he wasn’t that reserved.

“He was really easy on the eye, really skilful. He settled in really well with the team, and from day one you could tell there was something there.”

The Crystal Palace links continue, as Rowe actually made his senior debut for Norwich against the Eagles at Selhurst Park back in December 2021, where the south Londoners won 3-0.

Soon, the talented attacker could be playing regularly in SE25, but it will require Crystal Palace fending off intense competition for his signature.
