Micah Richards says there’s a simple change Ruben Amorim can make that would make Man Utd top four contenders

Manchester United are looking to bounce back after their worst Premier League season ever last time around.

Manchester United finished 15th in the Premier League last season, and after one match in the new season, they find themselves in the exact same position.

Of course, it’s early days yet, and United did look positive against Arsenal on Sunday.

Speaking to Football JOE, Micah Richards has been discussing where United will end up this season, and he made an interesting claim about the Red Devils and where they will finish.

Manchester United would contend for top four if they played 4-3-3

Richards shared his verdict on how United will get on this season.

The pundit says that he thinks United could challenge for a place in the top four if they changed formation to a 4-3-3.

However, due to the fact Ruben Amorim is persisting with his 3-4-3 set-up, Richards thinks United will finish seventh.

“I think if United played 4-3-3 they could challenge for top four, but they’re playing 3-4-3 and it doesn’t suit them, so I’m going to say seventh,” Richards said.

Richards says United will finish seventh due to Ruben Amorim’s tactics, and, even then, that is quite generous.

Amorim has been playing 3-4-3 at United for the best part of 10 months at this point, and the results in that time speak for themselves.

If United keep going at this rate, they will, once again, finish in the bottom half of the table.

Of course, with new signings, many are hoping that this system will click into gear, but, unfortunately for United, so far, there’s been almost nothing to suggest that this style of play will work in the Premier League.

At the moment, it’s very difficult to tip this United team for a place in the top four.
