Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers swoop for Man Utd outcast, Besiktas star pushing potential transfer

Manchester United have struggled to sell players so far in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have said goodbye to six players since the end of the 2025/26 season.

Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans left as their contracts expired, while Marcus Rashford was one of four players to leave Old Trafford on loan when he joined Barcelona.

Ideally, United would generate some funds from transfers before deadline day, as that would grant Ruben Amorim the opportunity to add more signings to his squad. United have been linked with moves for midfielders and goalkeepers since announcing Benjamin Sesko as their fourth summer arrival.

The Red Devils have a list of outcasts who haven’t been part of pre-season preparations this summer, after Amorim told them all to train alone and away from United’s first team. They include Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.

It could prove problematic if the transfer window shuts and United haven’t managed to get rid of these players. This means there is pressure on the club and their agents to secure moves before deadline day passes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes Tyrell Malacia swoop

After failing to impress on loan in a PSV Eindhoven side that was crowned Eredivisie champions last season, Malacia returned to United even though he is not part of Amorim’s plans.

Malacia’s entourage recently downplayed links to Celtic, despite rumours surfacing across social media that the left-back was on his way to Glasgow.

A new report from Fotospor claims Besiktas’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now convinced by his options at left-back, which has led to him turning his attention towards Malacia and Rangers’ Rıdvan Yılmaz.

The report adds that the former United manager has received encouragement from Malacia’s former Feyenoord teammate Orkun Kökçu, who only joined Besiktas last summer despite being a boyhood supporter of the club.

There are no specifics on whether Besiktas want to sign Malacia on loan or a permanent deal.

Malacia is under contract at United until June 2026.

Man Utd left-back options for 2025/26

United have addressed the problem at left-back since Amorim became head coach.

It became clear that Luke Shaw does not have the legs anymore to play as a wing-back in Amorim’s system, so Patrick Dorgu was bought from Lecce in January.

Furthermore, Diego Leon was signed from Cerro Porteno in January before joining up with United’s first team this summer.

Harry Amass is another option for Amorim, although it sounds like the young left back will be sent on loan.

PSV Eindhoven are interested in a loan move for Amass, as are other clubs. They will be hoping he can perform at a higher standard than Malacia last term.
