Arsenal Women dominate 2024/25 PFA Team of the Year

Arsenal Women’s remarkable 2024/25 campaign has been rewarded with four players earning places in the prestigious PFA Women’s Team of the Year.

Mariona Caldentey, Emily Fox, Kim Little and Alessia Russo were all recognised by their peers at the 52nd annual PFA Awards, held at the Manchester Opera House.

The selections underline Arsenal’s influence across the Women’s Super League (WSL) and Europe, following a season in which they lifted the Champions League and mounted a strong domestic title challenge.

Spanish forward Mariona Caldentey led the way, claiming both a Team of the Year spot and the coveted PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year award. The 29-year-old, who joined from Barcelona last summer, contributed nine goals and five assists in the WSL alongside eight goals in Europe, cementing her reputation as one of the finest attackers in the world.

She was joined in attack by Alessia Russo, the England striker who finished as the WSL’s joint top scorer with 12 goals. Russo’s clinical finishing and relentless work rate proved vital for Arsenal throughout the campaign.

In midfield, captain Kim Little continued to defy age with her fourth career inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year. At 35, the Scottish international delivered two goals and five assists across 20 league matches, combining leadership with her trademark composure.

Meanwhile, American defender Emily Fox was rewarded for an exceptional first full season at the club. The 25-year-old right-back featured in 21 WSL games, added a memorable strike in the North London Derby, and showcased her defensive reliability and attacking drive across all competitions.

Elsewhere, Manchester United dominated the defensive selections with three players, while Chelsea and Manchester City had two apiece. Arsenal’s four inclusions stood out as the highest from a single club, reflecting their attacking firepower and midfield control.

Adding to Arsenal’s celebrations, new signing Olivia Smith, who arrived in a record-breaking transfer was named PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year for her performances prior to joining the Gunners.

The honours cap a glittering season for Renee Slegers’ side and set the stage for another push for WSL glory in 2025/26.
